  Chapter 122

The Chosen One’s Mission, A Strange Scene?

The Ancient Dragon Battlefield, a place separated into three different layers, each divided into regions called ‘Zones’. Carefully looking from a top-down perspective, we would see three circular rings spreading outwards from a central point, or rather, a central landmass.

This land was quite strange as surrounding its edges was a barrier that revolved around it like a portal, it was here that was known as, the Center of All Zone's...

If one looked at its surrounding rings, they would see different amounts of landmasses that were positioned around it in a circular formation, with the exception being that of the outward-most ring.

Carefully looking, one would notice that around the edges of each of these landforms was a strange vortex, not of water, but the ripples from the ‘Dao Strands’ of space itself.

The Central Region’s ring had three separate landmasses, they are known as the Endless Rain Zone, the Boundless Sky Zone, and the Cloudy Ghost Zone, while the Interior Region had six landmasses called Boundless Water Zone, Foggy Zone, Goblin Zone, Spector Zone, Feral Zone, and lastly, the Forest Zone.

However, the Outer Regions were different as 'they' or rather, 'it,' was more of a large landmass that circled the entirety of the Interior Regions and Central Regions. These regions are quite large and as such, traveling from sections to sections would typically take many months or even years for ordinary martial practitioners.

If one wanted to reach any of the central regions, one would first have to arrive on either of the three prime landmass that is connected to the Central Regions then travel to the portal that leads to its connecting zone. Usually, these zones would function in this pre-arranged manner. But today was different, as it was destined to be a day like no other.

Buzzz! Immediately after a loud sound, the world that had mostly been calm once more started to shake as if it was undergoing a major quake. Quickly, all lifeforms within the Ancient Dragon Battlefield had become stuck in motion, having experienced this type of change before the individuals from the True Yuan Continent weren’t struck into the fear this time around. Instead, they each carried looks of puzzlement and surprise.

The fiends and intelligent force beasts that were within the realm also carried looks of surprise and puzzlement on their faces, more so, on the faces belonging to the Zone Commanders of the Central Zone who were now within the Center of All Zones.

Luckily for them though, their questions were soon answered, as the voice of the mysterious woman resounded throughout the entire mystic realm.

“A Chosen One has risen once again and has successfully initiated the Ancient War Command, thus becoming this era's True Born Chosen. As such, the rules governing the current Ancient Dragon Battlefield War will thus change. All paths to the Central Zones are now sealed while all paths to the Center of All Zones are open. Those residing in Interior Regions must travel to the end of your respected zones to use the portals that will transfer you to the Center of All Zones. There, you will have one mission which will be to recapture the Ancient Dragon Palace from the fiend armies
who will be guarding its domain.”

As the voice said this, a few of the individuals couldn’t help but become shocked. One practitioner thought, “Chosen One, how could there be a Chosen One when the Chosen Battle Royal had ended abruptly?”

A dark expression came over the faces of Reinz and the other Zone Commanders, Reinz thought to himself, “Dammit! To think I have been so careless, the palace is now being defended by only two elites. If the Chosen One is born he would most likely be accompanied with a large outsider major influence. Darn! To make matters worse, I have already led all my major generals here which means we can no longer....”

As Reinz thought to himself, the voice of the woman once again continued to speak, finishing his words for him.

“Anyone who enters the Central Regions will not be able to leave it until the end of the Ancient Dragon Battlefield Wars, as such, you must each strive your hardest whether for victory or defeat. There two ways to end the Ancient Dragon Battlefield Wars, one would be that of each of the outsider influences succeeding in the reclamation of the Ancient Dragon Palace or the successful competition of this era’s Chosen One task. Failure of both will result in serious consequences, as success in either will earn each outsider the right to enter the Ancient Dragon Palace as you will all be appointed 1 million war points.”

“Now then, strive your hardest...” As the voice said this, the rumbling of the world stopped as everyone finally regained control of their bodies. They looked up towards the sky with varying expressions on their faces being mostly of excitement while the leaders of the different influences carried in-depth looks on their faces.

“Chet! This trial just got harder. It was already difficult dealing with these fiends in the Interior Regions now we have to go and struggle against those at the Centre of All Zones. Who changed the trial details? Which bastard became the Chosen One?” One leader said.

“This isn’t good! We have to hurry to the Center of All Zones before more fiend influences gather, as it's better to have the initiative rather than arriving late and being passive! Everyone together, we must charge onwards!” Another leader who happened to have thought further said.

Quickly, these practitioners began to move towards the direction of the zone’s portal soon after vanishing across the vast horizon...

At the summits of the sky, a majestic mansion swiftly made its way through the parting clouds at high speeds as it soared towards the nearing portal at the end of the Foggy Zone.

Within this mansion, inside of the central room, a few individuals were gathered around a large table having an in-depth discussion about the mystic realm’s sudden announcement.

“Dammit! If it's like this, how will the elders we have set out to find Yu’er reach him? Now that this ‘Chosen One’ has invoked such a thing, the games and rules have changed. We are stuck with no option but to try and gain the upper hand against those fiends at the ‘Center of All Zones.’” Feng Yunlong said with a tone of voice filled with annoyance.

“Yunlong, there is no need to worry about these matters for as it stands, it can only be Yu child who is capable of invoking the Ancient War Command which means that he has found a way to survive despite his current circumstances. Therefore, we only have to do our parts in seizing the Ancient Dragon Palace from the fiend armies gathered at the center of all zones.” Feng Junling responded.

After staying silent for a while, Feng Yunlong could only sigh and nod his head in compliance, “I guess it can only be so...”

Feng Xingyu who sat at a nearby corner didn’t pay attention to this scene. Instead, her mind was more preoccupied with a different matter. “Strange, I feel a sort of connection here... as if someone close to me is by my side. Yet, this person is so far away...”

Her thoughts trailed away with the mansion which continued to make its way to the nearing portal vanishing across the sea of clouds and mists with the Foggy Zone...

Within the Center of All Zones, inside of a mountainous area, was a large army that stood at the peak of a broad hill that seemed to have no end, their eyes gazing towards the wondrous sights before them with a solemn expression on their faces hidden behind their vicious-looking helmets.

They wore strange blue armor, with cyan-like scaly skin and horns on their foreheads. Carefully looking, one would see that these individuals were no less than three meters tall and had slim physiques, giving one a feeling of inborn nimbleness.

One figure who was even more significant than the rest stood before the army at the very edge of the hill, he wore ancient looking cyan armor that glowed in a mysterious light as he stared towards a particular location with a sneer on his face.

“So, it’s a ‘he’ and not a ‘they,’ I don’t know which brat was lucky enough to enter my domain and even be fortunate to invoke that war command but trying to fight against my two subordinates by himself he will stand no chance...” said Reinz with a mocking look on his face.

After he finished his statement, he then shifted his vision elsewhere towards a bright light shining in the distance. There, a massive structure that could barely be seen due to its far distance stood aloof from the world around.

“We march forwards!” said Reinz as he pointed forward.

“Yes lord Rain Commander!” The army of Elite and Elder Aqua Nymph’s responded with a loud shout as they marched towards the distant structure at a brisk pace, shortly after vanishing from the region of hills...

  Fairyland, within the Fairy Palace.

The stars of the night sky was still shining brightly, creating a colorful cosmic mystery within the night scene, as the leaves from the ancient trees surrounding the vast lake around Fairy Palace glowed with radiant lights.

Feng Yu who had now recovered control of his body once more looked towards the sky with a pensive expression on his face as he thought to himself, “It seems that not only myself but the others will also have a huge battle ahead. Since this is the case, there is no time for me to continue waiting around. I need to formulate a plan to complete these missions...”

As Feng Yu thought about this, there was a sudden disturbance.

“Brat, it seems that you’ve got a lot on your mind. Why not share it with this Old Dwarfin?” Zyne said, as his voice resounded a little distance above Feng Yu's current location.

Feeling shocked, Feng Yu looked up to see the middle-aged looking dwarfin who sat calmly on one of the Fairy Palace’s high rounded roofs with his hammer held across his shoulders and his back facing Feng Yu’s balcony.

“Zyne? How long were you there?” Feng Yu asked being puzzled as he was almost sure that the region was empty moments ago.

Zyne hearing this laughed and replied, “Hahaha! I’ve been here for quite a while. I thought your behavior in the Aracnian Passage was quite strange and so I wanted to see what it was that caused your actions. Who would have thought that you would be the one to invoke such a thing?”

Zyne said as he pointed to the mark of the war command on Feng Yu’s forehead, Feng Yu touched his forehead while inspecting it with his spiritual sense, after a moment he frowned as he had not seen this mark earlier. He then looked at Zyne and asked, “Hmm, so has there been many in the past who had managed to invoke this command?”

“Um. A few talented persons indeed, although I was sealed for quite a while ‘rumors do travel through walls.’ The difference between you and them, however, is that they were each accompanied by great ancient influences. Still, you did something none of them could ever hope to achieve, managing to free not only me from captivity but saving that reckless Fairy Princess who recently got herself in trouble.” Zyne said with a tone filled with subtle praise.

Feng Yu hearing this remained silent for a moment before a steady light shone in his eyes, he then looked at Zyne and asked, “Zyne, you asked what troubles me? So, I will tell my worries. I have been tasked with the mission to destroy or capture all of the Zone Pala
ces’ within the entire ‘Central Zones.’ However, I lack the personal and external strength to accomplish this task, are you willing to aid me in this quest?”

A strange light shone within the eyes of Zyne as he heard this, he looked at Feng Yu and asked instead of replying, “Could it be you don’t know what the rule is after becoming a Chosen One?”

Feng Yu hearing this naturally had no idea what Zyne was talking about as such he revealed a confused expression on his face, Zyne seeing then understood as he spoke, “It seems your influence isn’t as well informed, maybe it’s because too much time has passed in what currently remains of the outer world. Ok then, I will fill you in boy. You becoming a Chosen One, or rather, True Born Chosen is no different from becoming our races savior. Whether we want to or not, we will each have to aid you and your campaign with all of our strengths to ensure our freedom.”

As Feng Yu heard this, he couldn’t help but realize his mistake. He muttered, “It seems I neglected the importance of this mission to the inhabitants of this world...”

“Hahaha! Indeed so, you did brat!” Zyne replied in a brute-like manner, he then looked towards Feng Yu and spoke in a deeper tone, “You need not worry over the details, the queen of fairies will be holding a meeting to convene all alliance members in a few days depending on the speed at which the core members arrive. There, she will elaborate on the detail regarding your mission and see who among the forces are willing to aid us into the battle.”

Feng Yu hearing this felt better as he spoke, “Ah, then that makes things much easier on my part. I guess now all we have to do is wait, oh one more thing. How do we go about healing Jing Mingyun’s current condition?”

Zyne hearing this frowned for a moment before speaking, “Hmm... this one is tricky, as she had given away all of her source essences. If she had a few remaining, then things would have been easy as all she would need to do is enter one of those old 'healing chambers' once the life source orb has been re-activated. However, it seems we may have to use a different method this time around...”
